Pendeltons Ltd is a well-established construction contractor specialising in ground engagement and civil works. We own all our own equipment that covers a broad range of services.

We specialise in producing engineered structures, with a wide range of applications.

We strive to achieve the highest level of competency as part of our infrastructure client demands.

Our infrastructure clients include: Wellington City Council, Wellington Regional Council, Hutt City Council, Kiwirail/Ontrack/ New Zealand Transit Authority, Ministry of Education.

We also offer services for residential sites that require assistance in achieving ground engagement or slope stabilisation.


Technical Services

Our resume of services can be used to solve a number of technically difficult problems, that are associated with geotechnnically insecure areas.

Driven Micropiling

Driven micro-piling to suit limited access sites where additional bearing is required the driving of piles as per the Hiley formula, driven by the penetration rates supplied by a hammer with a measured impact.

Piling

Augured displacement piles up to 1000dia.

Rock Anchors

Post tensioned soil nails using Reid bar, Ischebeck, Weldgrip or Maccalloy bar with various corrosion protection as per BS 8081-1989.

Passive anchorages for retaining structures.

Application of Services

Pile drilling

Testing anchors using hydraulic jacks is the preferred way to ensure the anchorage meets design loads.

The post tension load can also be used to apply a holding load.

Retaining

Rock anchors have the ability to tie the face of a retaining wall back to strata deeply buried behind the bank and beyond and rock defects.

Loads typically 5-100ton per rock anchor.

Seismic Strengthening

Ground anchors are a simple to solution for strengthening existing structures. These can be buildings, or structures the relative small size of the gear involved offer flexibility that other solutions to not.

Ground anchors offer both uplift resistance and additional bearing if required.

Drilling and Pile Driving

Both big and small, we love to dig holes, drill them and fill them. We can drillup to 1m diameter and down to a depth of 12m/ Contact us to help you with your fencing, foundations, retaining wall, or lamp post requirements.

Recent Projects

Blacksmiths Bluff (Murchison)

Retaining works on failed State Highway 65. Contracted to install 12m pre-grouted rock anchors, into granite through 6m of loose colluvium and the existing retaining structure.

This work was carried out for Opus International Consultants to meet BS8081. Destruction testing was carried to 930kN on 40mm MacAlloy Bars, to ensure bond strengths we in accordance with the engineer's design.

Oriental Bay

Subcontracted by Holmes Construction Wellington Ltd to carry out the Enabling works for a four story house on Wellingtons Oriental Bay.

Works included:

  • Liaison with historic places trust
  • Traffic Management
  • Demolition of existing dwellings
  • Install rock fall protection above worksite
  • Destruction testing on anchors as per BS8081
  • Excavation of site approx 1100m³ of rock and installation of 129 rock anchors
  • Staged underpinning of neighboring dwellings foundations to 2.5m below the footings
  • and installation of 450m² reinforced shotcrete

Khandallah Railway Station

During the 2009/2010 Johnsonville line upgrade Pendletons was involved in the construction of three new platforms and stations. Khandallah Railway station represented the highest demands due to its large size. As main contractor our responsibilities involved:

  • Health and safety and site security
  • Demolition of existing structures
  • Mass excavation 1300m³Installation of 70 passive rock anchors
  • Management of Screw pile contractor
  • Piletech, installing 63 screw piles
  • Install 670m² of reinforced shotcrete retaining walls
  • Construction of 30m long 5m high timber retaining wall
  • Construction of 200m of timber fencing

Engineer: Connell Wagner/Aurecon

South Wellington Intermediate

Pendletons as subcontractor to Sparrow Construction was Contracted to carry out   the installation of ground anchors/micro­ piles for the strengthening of the foundations.

Piles consisted on 180mm diabores with hollow core drill anchor bar pre-encapsulated in grout as per EN1537.

The anchors were subjected to compression and tension testing to ensure the installation meet the structural/ geotechnical requirements.

Minoh House

Reinstatement of road after a large landslide had removed site access. Aurecon Wellington designed a PFC retaining wall 7.5m high with double tied back anchors per column. The project was completed on time and underbudget to the Hutt City Council in December 2012.

Cole – our musical farmer – has returned to the big smoke of Tawa in Wellington. Cole manages a diverse work portfolio and his personal attributes include enthusiasm and drive. Cole is a great team player and is very thorough in his work.

 

Donna Sherlock | Company Secretary

Donna has experience in operational workplace safety, traffic management, heavy plant and equipment. With an academic background, Donna has a Bachelor of Commerce, in marketing and commercial law. She is currently working on her Public relations accreditation.  Donna is a hobby beekeeper and is a national award winning environmental ambassador. Donna is also a trustee of the Porirua Harbour and Community Catchment Trust.
